In Ukraine, the gap between low-income and high-income households is widening

The trend for rising average income per household in Ukraine underway for the past several years was observed in 2006 as well. Simultaneously, a gap is widening between average levels of household incomes and high and low household incomes, between urban and rural Ukraine, as well as across regions. In 2006, the share of households enjoying high incomes saw a minor increase. In 2006, as well as in 2005, more than a half of Ukrainian households had incomes below average.
